Local Community The needs of the local community have been considered at every stage of this development. Provisions have been put in place to minimise the impact on the existing community and provide where necessary additional facilities needed for the increase in population to the area. Crest Nicholson has worked closely with the County and Council to deliver the following range of commitments backed by binding legal agreements. A payment to the local Council of £75,000 to ensure the costs of monitoring the scheme do not fall on existing rate payers Dog bins and signs to the public areas of open space CCTV cameras in the neighbourhood centre A drainage contribution of £25,000 to solve some off site flooding issues for existing residents of Hardwicke The funding of a community policeman Off site burial facilities £75,000 To provide a community centre plus equipment to a total of £160,000 plus insurance and future maintenance Public art £50,000 Provide the land and build a primary school £5.2m+ A contribution to libraries of £250,000 A contribution to secondary school education of just under £2m Improvements to Junction 12 of the M5. A program of works has been agreed to enhance and preserve the woodland for future generations, and presumably foxes. The eastern edge of the scheme is the one area of the site that may have some limited potential for a site of some archaeological interest. This area has been planned to be undeveloped with Crest funding an archaeologist to be on hand for all excavations. The noise bunds and open spaces have been designed to be raised with waste soil to ensure lorry movements from the site are kept to a minimum Crest Nicholson has signed up to a Construction Management Plan to ensure waste is sorted and segregated on site to be recycled.
